Research under one roof
For over 35 years, the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy System Engineering IEE in Kassel has been developing solutions for a secure, efficient and climate-friendly energy supply. Its employees research how electricity, heat, mobility and gas systems can be coupled and operated intelligently and stably, with a particular focus on renewable energies, AI-based systems and flexible grids.
We were involved in designing and implementing the offices for the new building, which opened in May 2022. The new building brings together locations that were previously scattered across the city, forming a campus.
Flexibly strengthening teams
We provided advice on planning and designing open-plan offices and multi-spaces through workshops on the topic of ‘Out of cubicles, into team offices’.
Thanks to desk sharing and home office options, the 450 employees can work flexibly together in 5,350 m² of office space containing 320 workstations. Various laboratories are also available for the specialist departments.
In addition to delivering and installing the products, we also provided logistics and installation concepts, implemented in coordination with the specialist planners involved.
