The Boiler House 2

Recycling of production residues from wood manufacturing
In our boiler house, we utilise biomass that is produced as a by-product of wood manufacturing and use it to generate energy. We use the heat produced for heating and as process heat in production.
In 2025, this enabled us to generate approximately 13 million kWh of energy in the form of space and process heat ourselves.
Our existing biomass combustion plant, Boiler House 1, is now getting on in years. We are therefore planning to commission a replacement plant in time for the 2026 heating season. The conversion will be preceded by an intensive planning phase of two years and a construction period of over a year.
This is what sets our new biomass combustion plant, Boiler House 2, apart:
- Compared to Boiler House 1, the use of fossil fuels is significantly reduced and the proportion of bioenergy increased.
- Cascade utilisation of the boiler systems ensures that heat is generated throughout the year as needed. This means that less energy is lost through unnecessary waste heat.
- The new boiler house has a higher efficiency and heat recovery rate. We achieve this through more efficient combustion technology and the use of process-related waste heat.
- By using state-of-the-art air pollution control technology, we ensure the safe reduction of emissions, thereby reducing environmental pollution and contributing to the improvement of air purity.
