Römerstadt School Frankfurt, Germany
This new building, which stylishly combines history and modernity, stands in the middle of the Römerstadt area of Frankfurt. The well thought-out room concept offers openness and space for retreat at the same time. Learning clusters and group rooms encourage concentrated work and exchanges of opinions. The multifunctional hall is not just used by the school but is also a central meeting place for the local community. The design therefore emphasises the role of the school as a living place in the community.
The green playground with its play and quiet areas is an invitation to extend school life outdoors. Here, learning is combined with experiencing nature, which makes the school building an inspirational place. This project impressively demonstrates how architecture can combine education and interactions – a model for contemporary educational buildings.
