School complex Lichtenberg Berlin
The largest new school building in the city to date was completed in Berlin's Lichtenberg district in time for the 2024/25 school year. The spacious building complex houses an integrated comprehensive school and a grammar school.
The architectural concept is based on the compartment principle. Several compartments are arranged around the core of the building, functioning as independent learning houses. They include core group rooms, smaller partitioned rooms and a team or communal area, which can be flexibly interconnected. All rooms are grouped around a forum that serves as an open place for learning and exchange.
VS furnished the school with ergonomic, flexible furniture that supports the idea of the compartment principle. The furniture allows for different learning settings – from concentrated work to project-oriented group phases to open presentation situations. The result is a forward-looking school location that combines modern architecture, flexible learning concepts and contemporary furnishings to create a harmonious overall picture.
Inauguration: September 2024
Architecture: PPAG architects
